According to my sources, the name for the Mars Science Laboratory Rover that will hopefully be launching to Mars in the next year or two is…
(queue drumroll)
Curiosity!
And James Cameron has convinced NASA to keep the 3-D Camera onboard, and apparently is helping to develop it.
So 3D images from another planet may actually happen.
UPDATE:   Here is an artist’s depiction of Curiosity, complete with size-scale comparing it to previous Martian rovers.
